Finally! I took the plunge and created a watermark for my photography. I feel it is important to secure your photographs as well as advertising who you are at the same time. Here is my first shot at watermark. I'm sure overtime I will be experimenting and changing it up. But for now, here it is!
It is generally believed that the purpose of the watermark was originally to provide an identification of the photographer; it was essentially a signature mark. The purpose of the watermark today is security; it verifies the authenticity of a photograph.
Clearly watermarks are critical in providing credit for creative work where credit it is due, but it also provides an opportunity to give viewers something to recognize beyond photographic style… in essence a digital signature.
A watermark should be practical, functional and aesthetically pleasing to the photographer.
